How Kindness By Mail Works
A simple, parent-guided process for helping children send and receive real letters through a reviewed mail process.
The Letter Process
Choose a plan
Pick a one-time letter or a monthly membership for one or more participating children. Kindness By Mail is currently available for U.S. mailing addresses only.
Write and review together
Your child writes their letter at home, then a parent or guardian reviews it before mailing. Letters should be kind, appropriate, and free of private personal details.
Mail it to our PO Box
Print and complete the required submission slip, place it with your child’s letter, and mail everything to our PO Box.
We review and forward
We review each letter for privacy, kindness, and appropriate content. Approved letters are placed in a new envelope and forwarded through Kindness By Mail.
Replies are not guaranteed, but any reply must come back through our PO Box and be reviewed before forwarding.
Every letter is reviewed before forwarding
Kindness By Mail reviews each letter for privacy, kindness, and appropriate content. We look for personal contact details, unkind language, and concerning content before a letter is forwarded.
- Home addresses are never shared between families.
- Concerning or inappropriate content is not forwarded. If there is a concern, we contact the parent or guardian.
- Approved letters are placed in a new envelope before being forwarded.

A real letter, addressed to your child.
When a letter is forwarded to your child, it arrives at your mailing address using the letter name you chose, such as a first name and last initial.
- Parents choose how their child’s name appears on mail.
- Home addresses stay private.
- Replies, if sent, must go back through our PO Box for review.
